Great food cooked fresh. Excellent service. Taking a star off for being stingy on vegetables, even though rice/noodle servings are large. Also the hours are not accurate. We went there, it was closed.

A surprisingly faithful rendition of a Hong Kong style cha chaan teng! In Hong Kong, tea house/restaurant/diners like these are common. They serve a combination of Western, Cantonese, and fusion dishes. My coworker got a beef dip - the au jus looked meaty and she ate it without a complaint (although she is pretty easy to please). I was super hungry so I went with the house special wonton soup and the salt and pepper pork chop. The soup broth was clear and delicious, exactly what I needed on a cold day. There was definitely a bit of a language barrier (which I take as a good sign in an Asian restaurant), so I wasn't sure if the waiter actually ever put in the order for the salt and pepper pork chop - he had warned me that it was a lot of food! It took a bit, but it did arrive and booooooooooooy howdy I'm glad it did. Super tender bits of bone-in pork chop (chew carefully) wonderfully seasoned. The ambiance is cha chaan teng to a T - casual, a little run down even, but well loved. My only complaint was that it was a bit chilly inside and there were not as many drink options as you'd like to see in a tea house. Considering how difficult it can be to get appropriate ingredients in Yellowknife, this is a 5 star find.
